Psychotherapy is the use of different therapeutic methods, to help a person change behavior and overcome challenges in desired ways. Psychotherapy is most successful when based on regular personal interaction, usually once a week for an hour long session. Nancy uses a strengths based perspective in order to build on the inherent strengths of her clients to help move them forward in their emotional and spiritual journeys. Nancy will work with clients to address their anxiety, depression, bereavement, and other emotional health issues.

Families

Nancy has extensive experience working with teens. Nancy uses a combination of psychotherapy, therapeutic games, and art therapy techniques in order to give clients the emotional vocabulary to express themselves successfully. Nancy can also work with parents and teens towards making positive behavioral changes for a happier and healthier family home life.

Couples may wish to consider therapy before they feel a dire need to address a specific issue. Some couples believe that therapy can be an important part of the relationship. Different issues may start small and then grow quickly to a point where it feels that resolution is impossible.  Therapy can help by giving tools and techniques to improve relationships and teach improved conflict resolution skills. Nancy has professional experience in helping couples establish a communication style that will work best for them while celebrating the love that initially brought the couple together.

Learning that your child has special needs can be a challenging and difficult journey for parents. Families require support in all phases of this journey, be it learning of the special needs while a child is in utero, or having your special needs child turning 18, which is assigned as be the legal age of competency. Competency is assumed and must be proved otherwise when seeking guardianship. Nancy is highly experienced personally and professionally with the challenging yet rewarding journey of having a special needs child.  Nancy can answer your questions regarding enrollment in Mass Health, Social Security, Adult Family Care programs, and other services available to special needs children and adults.

Family therapy is a type of psychotherapy that can help family members improve communication and 

Family therapy is often short term. It may include all family members or just those able or willing to participate. Your specific treatment plan will depend on your family's situation. In your family therapy sessions, Nancy can teach you skills to deepen family connections and get through stressful times, even after you're done going to therapy sessions.
